About

Hi there, I’m Jessica White, owner and operator of Over Yonder Press based in Asheville, NC. I’ve lived here since 2009 where I established a letterpress print studio and book bindery. I taught printmaking, paper making, and bookbinding as a professor at Warren Wilson College until 2024, when I stepped away from academia to focus on studio work. I have a BFA in Sculpture from East Carolina University (go Pirates!), and an MFA in Printmaking and a Graduate Certificate in Book Studies from the University of Iowa (go Hawkeyes!). My work experience comes from 6 years of working in the library conservation labs at both universities, along with 3 years as a paper conservator for the esteemed Northeast Document Conservation Center in North Andover, MA.
My personal artwork:

I’m a printmaker and book artist with a practice that revolves around narrative relief prints, wood engravings, letterpress printing, and crankies. I use the crankie structure as a storytelling device; scrolling images encased in boxes that visually tell stories in a linear way with no page breaks, inviting the viewer to journey along with me through the passage of time and landscape. With crankies, I’ve discovered a unique medium where I can explore the intersection of visual, haptic, and time based art, and connect it to music and storytelling. I use this medium to tell my own stories as well as uplift the voices of others. See my work at www.jessicacwhite.com.
