Letterpress Printing

Imagine the tactile experience of holding a beautifully printed book, where each page tells a story not just through words, but through the artistry of the print itself. Our letterpress services allow you to create something truly special, whether it’s for a personal project, a gift, or even a professional endeavor. The deep impressions and rich textures of letterpress printing can elevate your work, making it stand out in a world filled with digital prints.

At Over Yonder Press, we offer full-service letterpress printing, specializing in printed books and broadsides. This traditional printing technique, which dates back to the 15th century, utilizes movable type and a press to create tactile impressions on paper, resulting in a unique aesthetic that is both visually appealing and texturally engaging.

Unlike digital printing, letterpress printing offers a distinct tactile quality that enhances the reader's experience. The impression left on the paper creates a three-dimensional effect, inviting interaction and engagement. The tactile experience can significantly influence perception and retention of information, making letterpress an ideal choice for literary works.

Our custom letterpress services offer a unique blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and sustainability. The precision, tactile quality, and historical significance of letterpress printing make it an invaluable option for those seeking to create impactful literary works meant to last and for artists and writers to connect with their audiences in meaningful ways.

  • The cover stock and paper we use for notebooks is Mohawk Superfine by Mohawk Papers in soft white with an eggshell finish, an excellent paper for a variety of drawing and writing media. Other colors are also available for covers at cost, from French Paper; please ask for color options.

  • Turnaround time is a minimum of 3-6 months after the order is placed.

  • All prices are for printing on one side only (for notebooks, the printed design can extend from the front to the back cover). For two-sided printing, please add $250.

  • For bindings: choose either sewn or stapled binding on the left. Interior pages are blank.
